What ideas do you have to better the lives of Oklahoma’s children?
I am a public school teacher and see everyday the difficulties that our children struggle with: lack of positive role models, unstable homes, grandparents becoming primary parents (again), difficulty accessing health care, and the crippling effect of institutional poverty. Oklahoma needs sustainable funding for our core services so we can begin to honestly address our children’s needs. In this current “Red” atmosphere I will establish myself as an strong and loyal advocate for public education and affordable health care.
What have you done to support children prior to this election?
I have taught in public school for 24 years. There is not much I haven’t done in support of children.
What will you do to support families in your new role, if elected?
Being seen in the community and being accessible will help restore some confidence in government; advocating for treatment and counseling rather than incarceration for minor offenses, I support restoring the Earned Income Tax Credit, and find funding that will promote access to affordable health care.
