What ideas do you have to better the lives of Oklahoma’s children?
With respect to healthcare, I will support Medicaid expansion for the poor, affordable healthcare for the working class, and access to immunizations for all children. Also, supporting working and single moms through equal pay and better job opportunities would elevate the standard of living for Oklahoma’s children. Over the past year, I’ve noticed higher calls for food banks and the affordability of nutritional food for students within HD82. I will support any legislation that ensures they don’t go hungry.
What have you done to support children prior to this election?
I have volunteered for 15 years at the Edmond Public School District, taught financial literacy courses for two years at Oklahoma City Public Schools, and advocated on behalf of children and affordable healthcare at the state Capitol over the past year. I influenced the passage of HB2866, which prohibited the Department of Human Services from charging single parents fees to collect their child support payments. In 2012, I launched Business Interludes to train women to get back on their feet after a money crisis. I want to continue this work as an elected leader at the House of Representatives
What will you do to support families in your new role, if elected?
I will support legislation that ensures children and their families are financially secure, adequately covered by healthcare, and have access to opportunities that improve their standards of living.
