Note: OICA did not apply for state ARPA funding due to the potential conflict of interest in advocating for support for other nonprofit programs.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Joe Dorman, chief executive officer of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy (OICA), released the following statement in support of the proposal approved by a joint legislative committee for distribution of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds allocated to Oklahoma:

“True to their word, the members of the Joint Committee on Pandemic Relief Funding have elevated priority issues surrounding the health and well-being of Oklahomans in need. The Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy expresses our great appreciation to the members of this committee for providing much-needed funding for programs such as completion of the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital Behavioral Health Center and the State Broadband Office, along with enhancements to improve access to nurses and nonprofit support.

“We anxiously await what decisions will come through future allocations which will benefit Oklahoma’s children and families.”
